Candace, hopefully I did not have yet to deal with such problems... I repot straight away after new plants arrive and old medium goes to the bin.
Moreover I have only a small list, that makes things more easy !
But I will sure break out the big guns if needed, no mercy for bugs

Exactly, I agree with Eric, I always replace the media right away too. However the insects are in deep down the growing point which you can never see & reach unless you chop off the top part to the root juncture (then you end up with no plant) By the time they become more mature & emerge a few weeks later, they may already migrate to neighbor plants.
