I found out why David. Rick from Tenn. and I crossed my plant with his pollen, didn't take. The next time I selfed it......it didn't take again!

This is a great looking flower Rick?

I think its also weird that it blooms at a different time of year from mine.

Self it again. Sometimes the plants just have to be older and more stable to take.

Rick

In this photo you can tell that the petals are reflexed back, which makes them look shorter than they really are, and more like most pictures in books.

Would the petals extend below the pouch if they weren't reflexed?

How many growths is this plant now?

If you don't breed it then save pollen for me to try the next time one of mine blooms (I have two and they seem to be alternating on years).

This might help Rick. The plant is starting to loss the oldest leaves as you can see from the yellowing. It's a 3-1-1 plant with middle "1" as blooming and the new start is actually on a back growth not the lead.

I thought you might fine this interesting as well. Not sure if it will fully mature but it's the first time a second bud has ever formed
