My first phrag in flower

Just acquired. The first phrag I bought is still a long way to go to reach flowering size, but growing steadily. Phrags are very hard to come by here. I think this is Calurum?

Don't you live where it's super hot and humid? You need airflow to keep away rot.

Higher temperature = higher evapotranspiration. Leaves are not constantly wet and it does not rain everyday, contrary to your expectation This particular plant is indoors by my window. Came potted in a peat-perlite mixture. I top-dressed with sphag to prevent the fine bits flying everywhere and water once a week. I don't sit it in water.
