I just got back from a trip to the North Island of New Zealand and was lucky enough to find 14 different native orchids in situ on the many hikes I did. Here are some of the most spectacular species in bloom that I found-

Aporostylis bifolia

It looks like that you had an amazing trip. They look all wonderful. Tree fern forest must be a cool place to wonder around. Aporostylis bifolia looks very nice, is it from high altitude?

I particularly like the Aporostylis bifolia. On the right side of the top right hand photo, tucked in among what appears to be lichen, you can see how it got it species name

Thanks all for the nice comments.

Yes, only grew above tree line in the alpine grass zone in the area I was at :)

So excellent, thanks for sharing. Did you know these orchids or have to look them up? Are they native only to NZ? They are quite unusual.

I've been to the south island, but never the north island and now I wish I had. NZ is a very lush environment and
very beautiful...also lots of sheep on the north island I've
heard. The orchids are sooo intriguing.

Very cool! I like the Pterostylis patens. Is that a lizard on the leaf?
Thanks! No, it is just some dry leaves that look lizard like....

Thanks, I actually studied up on the native orchids of the area I was visiting and then was able to match up names to plants. I believe all 3 are endemic to NZ!
