Hmmm, the medium looks like house plant potting soil w/ coarse perlite added?

Hum, not exactly, this is what is sold over here in France as "Special Epiphit Orchid medium" in garden supply shops. It contains fine barks, mashed sphagnum and some white peat. Because I found it a little heavy, I add some polystyrene to make it more light. It looks very dark here because I just wet it.
Plants likes it, but you must be very carefull with water, this is kind of dangerous medium when you don't feel confortable with watering.
