My first BS complex (I begged Paramount and received the plant 'fat' at the base). Now the agony, I've watched it emerging into the 'low bud stage' (or is it in sheath?) and still so far to go and so many things to go wrong. My plants live in fear of the potential mechanical damage I've been known to inflict and that doesn't even get me to the fact that this a complex Paph (a genetic crap shoot with odds worse than a casino). Even if it isn't a dog many people nowadays don't seem to appreciate complex Paphiopedilums - not many slipper orchid lovers locally, I may be the the only witness (in person, I will share with my fellow forum members the success or the horror). So while still too early to say good or bad here is Paphiopedilum Yi-Ying Firefox (Hama Chilwin x Kimura's Red).
