we actually saw a fair number of eagles catching fish and a few flew right by us with their catch

heading out for some more fly-thru fish-sticks

immature eagle strafing an adult who had been sitting oddly on the tower
frame. when the youngster approached the adult, the two flew up and you
could see the fish it was hiding underneath it's body (seen below)

nexte1111e.JPG

you can see how the middle eagle is hanging it's front wings over the
metal support, and dangling it's tail over the back of the frame. it was
doing this to hold itself in place while it's feet were hanging onto the fish it
was eating/hiding. the other two darker birds are immature eagles looking for a handout

the flag was whipping all morning. clark said that he didn't see it resting the whole day

an eagle sitting on outflow dividing wall

nexte1111h.JPG

two birds diving for a fish. after a brief altercation, one of the birds ends up
in the water.

nexte1111i.JPG

the one sat in the water for a few minutes, puzzling people standing around
who figured that the bird was injured

nexte1111j.JPG

and a shot of it taking off from the water. after all of the other birds flew
off, it decided to head out

surprise! and victory lap (if look closely you can see the fish it was hiding
while it was sitting in the water). the eagle had waited until all of the
other competitors had flown away when they thought there wasn't a fish to
steal, and was unchallenged when it did finally fly to the trees to eat it's catch

if you look closely you can see the fish tail underneath this eagle's tail

Very Cool!!

A friend of mine saw a couple of balds in our neck of the woods last week. Some locals told him they've been in the area on/off for a couple of years. Probably not summer nesting, but winter feeding.

FANTASTIC Charles!:drool: Thanks for sharing this with us!:clap:

Everytime I look at # 9, I think of the rubber ducking tune:crazy::crazy::crazy:

#3 shows metal federal band and colored state band. NY=blue NJ=green

Great shots Charles!
I missed the shot of Sulfate taking off. Lost my patience:(

Can't wait to do this again next year;)

Having some storage issues with photos.
Just made room. 18mp files take so much space!
Don't have many good ones from that day, but can confirm Sulfate's ID.

SO 4
