From the collection of Armando Mantellini that I got on a visit to Redlands last year (thanks to his daughter Maria for selecting a strong division for me).

The splash markings are not huge enough to qualify as flamea so pincelada is more appropriate.

The shape is well-formed (for labiata) with no windowing between the labellum and lateral sepals. I think I love it lol.

Since it blooming out of season, it pays to know the differences with other species that bloom around the same time The fragrance is sweet and light like labiatas, not like jenmanii’s heavy sweetness or trianae’s fruitiness. The lip and lack of column wings rule out lueddemanniana.

NS 12.5 cm

Flowered beautifully by DavidB.
