    Cattleya labiata pentaflamea/pincelada ‘Harlequin’

From the collection of Armando Mantellini that I got on a visit to Redlands last year (thanks to his daughter Maria for selecting a strong division for me). The splash markings are not huge enough to qualify as flamea so pincelada is more appropriate. The shape is well-formed (for labiata)...

    Cattleya labiata fm. coerulea ‘Sapphire’

So I showed my plants all your blue labiatas on here and lo and behold, this popped out to join the party! The lip is really dark like sapphire and covers half the midlobe. Ceniza color too as all parts bluish esp. the sepals and petals. Sorry pics are side lined as it was behind a lot...

    Cattleya labiata Party

This year my labiatas grew very well and produced some lovely groupies lol. Tipo and semiconcolor (purpurea lineata). All heading to the Windsor show this weekend. Perfectly grown by DavidB.

    Cattleya labiata tipo ‘Baby Goliath’

A baby version of the ‘Goliath’ cultivar which was large (17 cm?). This particular flower has incredible shape with petals touching on top. The two petals form a tear drop at the center too. My plant blooming in Brazil. NS 15 cm.

    Cattleya labiata semialba ‘Broken Heart’

I named it because the white eyes broke the solid red lip. And also to all who’s had their hearts broken sometime in their lives. My plant blooming it’s heart out in Brazil. NS 13.5 cm. Also known as the var cooksonii.

Cattleya labiata semialba pentapincelada ‘Solar Flare’ AM/AOS

Awarded today at the Windsor Orchid Society AOS Outreach Program with an 80 point AM. What a nice surprise. Had one flower bruised from travelling but didn’t detract from its beauty.

    Cattleya labiata coerulea ‘Blue Balls’

Likely the best bloom this plant has achieved (in DBryan’s GH). Almost 15.5 cm , round, flat and blue! Too bad it won’t last for judging 3 weeks from now ,(. This form is considered ‘ceniza’ type meaning that the petals and sepals are also bluish (vs true coerulea which has white sepals and...

Cattleya labiata semialba pincelada (Cooksoniae type) ‘Solar Flare’

Blooming with approximately 7 flowers on 3 leads, this 14 cm flower has light magenta brush strokes on all sepals and petals. Thus the name I gave it lol. My plant grown beautifully in GH by DBryan (in pic).

    Cattleya labiata coerulea ‘Blue Diamond’

First flowering of a division I got more than 3 years ago, possible more. Took its time growing but finally sheathed and popped out two blue flowers. Not as round as my other one ‘Blue Bells’ but it has the shape of a good ‘wild’ type. I named it ‘Blue Diamond’ because of the lip marking and...

    Cattleya labiata semialba ‘Coral Falls’

The flowers snuck up on me. The plant arrived in November and still in Brazil time. Flowers are small as plant is still establishing. Will cut off this weekend to let plant grow. But look at the solid lip, called atropurpurea (color to edge).

    Cattleya labiata coerulea ‘Blue Bells’

A lovely blue blooming it’s little heart out. Sister of ‘Blue Balls’. Big flowers at 15.5 cm.

Cattleya labiata var. purpurea-striata ‘The Three Amigos’

A rebel! Blooming out of season from a new growth. Supposed to be warneri and gaskelliana season lol (a few in bud here). Luckily it will throw a new growth for fall (another growth is developing on the other side also), making two growths with blooms then. Only one bud but huge at 17 cm...

Cattleya labiata var. Cara Blanco 'Mona Lisa'

Secured from the Japanese collection of Wakayama Orchids, this beautiful variety has a beautiful white lip against a fluffy pink flower. Cara Blanco means white face. NS 14 cm.

Cattleya labiata fm (or var) purpureo-striata

This the the best flowering it has done since the five years I’ve had the plant. Flowers are bigger and fuller then before, about 16 cm natural spread. And the presentation is the most ideal this time. Way to brighten up the cold Toronto weather!
