Thanks for sharing; Great Pictures!! Does it look like on one of the pictures there is snow on the top of the Mountain? And how tall is Mt. Olympus?

Robert

I am really sorry I am late to reply but I just saw these posts!!!

Robert: Mt Olympus is 2.918m, it is the tallest in Greece. There is snow almost all year round except a couple of months in late summer, but I am not so sure about that!!

I went again last Friday (15/05/09) and there is still lots of snow! I also found this Orchis simia along the road (at the side).. :D

Hello all,

Yesterday I went back to Mt Olympus! I reached 1500m altitude this time! The walking was tiring but rewarding..:) We had to go because of a sudden storm (very common on this Mt all year round) and a mysterious dense fog! But look what I found :)

1. Ophrys mammosa (maybe a hybrid)
2. Neottia nidus-avis
3-4. Listera cf ovata
5. Cephalanthera longifolia
6. Cephalanthera cf damasonium
7. Orchis sp.
8. Orchis sp.
9. This should be an orchid but I should ask to be sure... will let you know...:) I hope it will be in bloom next time i go..:)
10. I think it might be Anacamptis pyramidalis but I am not so sure...!!!
