Wild Vanilla vine

In the forest near Tarapoto, Peru I found this Vanilla vine. It hangs probably 75 feet down to the ground and then ambled all over the place. No beans or flowers.

the grower had them in the strangest mix ever! it was nearly 98% perlite and the rest was small rocks so they arrived severely dehydrated and over the course of a few months languished and died

How long were you able to be around this plant? I heard the flowers only last a day so not much opportunity to see it bloom unless you live by it for a while.

Just happened across it as we were cutting our way through the jungle.

No. Ive never been bit by a leech that I remember. Mosquitos? Not many in the high elevation jungles. I wore a t shirt and did not use repellent.... No malaria in this region either. :clap:
