Hello,

I don't know what the name of this slipper is. Maybe Roy can help or one of the other many experts on this forum.

Regards,

Bernhard

Bernhart, the flower and more particularly the plant shows a heavy influence of P.Paeony 'Regency'. I would suggest that it could be a direct Paeony 'Regency' cross or a P. Amanda crossing. The other parent would be another of the same color lines. Is it a seedling or division of a plant you have purchased????
If its a division, its probably a hybrid from a Ratcliffe cross from a few years back or similar breeding from here in Australia.

I have limited knowledge in this area but would suggest that it has some gratrixianum in its breeding.

hello Roy, I purchased the plant some time ago from an older gentleman who lives 150 kms south of Rocky. He has some magnificent appletonianum slippers and I bought 4 shoot divisions and saw this big beautiful solum which is a big yellow slipper and I bought a small divison too. He said he had a big orchid without a name which is a division of one of his divisions. He had it in his possession for many years and lost the name and couldn't help me. He has a 300 slipper collection without any faults and all our big beautiful plants. Regards Bernhard

In a complex hybrid like that guesses can only be made but if you don't know for sure the parents you can never be sure. So enjoy the flower but I wouldn't give it a cross name.

It looks to me like one of the older complex crosses....Can't hazard a name though.....Eric

I had a look in Dank-o-Pedilum, it could be anyone of 25 hybrids, and you might still be wrong.
