:drool:jealous in N.E. IL.! I just might have to try one again!

To me, most of them smell like fresh bake sweet bread or dessert. Like cinnamon roll without cinnamon! And you can smell this about 15 feet away! Super super strong scent. One drawback of Stanhopea is that a flower last at most 3 days. You have to grow them real big so they have tons of flowers, then you can have blooms for about two weeks.

Cool! I love Stanhopeas! I have a tigrina x devoniensis that just bloomed. Perfect for just one day. I have been told that devoniensis is not correct, but I don't know. I should post a pic sometime. Does any one have this cross, or something similar? Post a pic and I can compare. Apparently, devoniensis is insignis x tigrina/nigroviolacea. I've also heard that devoniensis is a synonym for hernandezii, which seems more plausible, as mine does look like a tigrina x hernandezii. Anyone here know taxonomy of Stanhopeas?
