I was also wondering about labeling the box. Like Ruth said, do you label it live plants or perishable?

I always label the box with a prominent label..... Live Plants or Live Orchids....Keep from Keep or Cold.

Also, say you are selling off a website. Is there any U.S. state that has special regulations like CA, HI, or AK?

Yes. Every State has it's own rues about plants entering it's juristiction.
All plants entering California are supposed to be declared and inspected. I don't know exact laws for other states and that is why I label the box because that gives notice of the plants entry and allows the inspectors to look if they want to.

The only reason not to label the box is if you are hiding something.

A little off subject but, I'd like to eventually be a small time seller. What would you do about getting sales/nursery permits

Ask your County Ag Department what is required in your State.

or would you bother?

You should make your own decision whether you want to follow the rules or not.

Print this label and tape it to your boxes, it works well.....
