First time growing this species after 25 years of growing phrags in general. (I have grown, and killed, several besseae along the way...) Picked up a couple in sheath a couple months ago. The first to bloom was nice, but the second one had this really fat spike...was eagerly awaiting the blooms and was not disappointed! NS was a full 9.0 cm on first flower, 2.0 cm petal width. The cross is 'Acker's Flamenco Dancer' x 'Firefly'. My camera flash makes it slightly redder, I would describe it as luminous deep orange.
