I was thinking the same thing! Would there be an viable seed in that pod?

Nope, if he would be sending it to you now, there is no chance of any viable seed. It should have been harvested on Feb or March of 2010.

If one succeeds, isn't the seed count low on trigrinums anyway?
 
Yes, I have also heard that they give little or no seed!!!

I actually get them to germinate, and usually the % is pretty good, but they are hard to grow in the lab. You need to keep replating them every 2 to 3 months. If you don't they will die. I double checked my records, and it actually takes tigrinum seedpods 11 to 12 months to mature, so it should be harvested in May or June of 2010!
