hi,

first flowering of a plant bought a couple of years ago in the U.K. as insigne var sanderae.
Its a pure alba apart from a smattering of dark dots up the middle of the dorsal sepal. A second flower is identical.
I know that sanderae has some dark dots but do they normally extend up the dorsal?

Thanks,

David

My understanding is:

dots on dorsal = var. sanderae
no dot at all = var. sandarianum

so the presence of dots on dorsal is in fact the key distinction to the two varieties.
