Guess The Primary 1

Following are 2 old Primary Crosses that we remade.

The first is a very old one (originally made back in 1876!). Someone who used to work for us made this cross a few years ago. I pesonally would have never made it. One of the parents is very dominant, but can you guess the other parent?

The Paph lowii is pretty obvious, and with the stance of the petals and bright color, I would guess Paph venustum as the other parent.

I don't mind the cross, the color is really good. If only you could striaghten out the dorsal sepal.

You all guessed it!; it is Paph. Pycnopterum (lowii x venustum).

I agree, I think we only kept 1 or 2 plants from this cross, as I was curious to see what it would look like, I was already afraid that it would be an ugly duckling. for some reason lowii does not make a good parent (perhaps except with some other multiflorals).
