a species I like, it is neat and compact. Love the dorsal.

Oooh, looks almost exactly like my gratrix! Wonderful, and I love that spotting on the dorsal.
 
what makes it var. daoense? It has great clear colours.
What I read was ...
wide leaves, shorter flower stems, bold spotting on the dorsal & the green halo on the dorsal doesn't exceed 1/4.
Now don't ask me where I read it, that part of my memory is gone!:p

Sounds like mine, so I hope it's a correct description. :)
 
Thanks for the info Rose, can't quite see that from the pic though
I don't know if this will help, but here's a picture of my gratrix where you can see the entire plant (it has skipped flowering this year, but I'm not complaining since the new fans are too immature yet).
