Or the amount of debt you go into to buy and use them... (And the fine you pay if you use them incorrectly or they don't work and you lose the crop or you spray and then it immediately rains and washes it all away....,) yes that's a downer

The cause of depression is the imbalance of serotonin in mammals. If
a pesticide causes that imbalance, it certainly should be verified by
testing of the blood serum and gastric mucous membranes. Asking
farmers questions seems a bit unscientific to me.
 
Organophosphates are neurotoxins. Depression is probably not their worst effect.
 
Farmers, unfortunately, use far more pesticides and herbicides than most folks (with the exception of possibly golf courses with herbicides). Drums of it for fields and crops. Never saw a farmer in a 'space suit' while spraying fields. Always in their regular work clothes.
