    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

From what I am told, I have to get CITES on my plants that I have here from flask and export them to the USA. Apparently flasks are not as likely to be accepted. I dont know why, but that is what one of your top Paph nurserymen told me.

    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

This is a friends plant, bloomed from a plant ex-flask. One of my seedlings. You can see how the flask leaves were narrower and the new leaves ex-flask are getting wider on this plant.

    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

Well I did.. I just wasn't happy with the photos, and I have seen them before. So I did not keep them.. I will post a pic later of one a friend has bloomed.

    paphiopedilum canhii seedling

I have found culturally this plant will grow well in equal parts small bark, styrofoam, and large perlite. I put a bed of live moss on top of the mix. As the mix is very light and airy, I water every day or two as they like moisture, just not wet. Temperature: Summer, maximum of 30c and a...

rugsuryanum or however you spell it

Rungsuriyanum germinates relatively easy in flask. The problem is getting a legal source. You will just just run into CITES as an issue, but also local laws, say like the Lacey ACT in the USA. That said, some countries like Australia are more relaxed about importing species like this as long...

My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

Lance, with the many emails, documents that CITES in Australia has given, they would have a legal minefield to travel if they wanted to reverse their decision that allowed me to bring the plants in as flasks. They have several times told me flasks are ok as long as I had country of export that...

    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

Not in bloom anymore, and I didnt take pics of the last one. When I bloom one again I will. But as a friend who helped import the last flasks shared some out, perhaps they will beat me to it as they are a much better grower than me :D Frankly, the cats out of the bag, and that's what matters.

My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

What I was told is that if I can produce flasks CITES here will help me with a CITES document to say it was legally produced in Australia and they permitted its export with a locally produced phyto. But I am told that to export to the USA, it is better to send plants with an Australia CITES...

Sadly they wont provide that as such complaints are private. I have my suspicious. Just jealous old sh*ts who got peeved when I would not sell them plants :rollhappy:

My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

Well I will continue to work with the plants I have that have been legally accepted into Australia. It is my aim that in time I will export them as mature plants with CITES documents as I have been assured that will be possible by the CITES office here in Australia given that my plants came in...

    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

Never read it. No desire to ever do so. ;) To undo a legal document will depend how much money someone/a government wants to throw at the matter and whether or not the other country accepts the outcome. In this case, several countries are involved, and I don't think they will wan to waste...

    A 2nd new species

It is only ugly when you are constrained by the odd, artificial and conformist notions of what makes a good orchid hybrid in my opinion. The pursuit of unnaturally large, round, and perfectly flat flowers is a galaxy away from what orchids are in the wild. I dont pursue awards or these ideals...

    A 2nd new species

I am told the seed of these new species is already in laboratories in several countries. Thats a good thing.

My Paph. rungsuriyanum arrived US safely.

One of the interesting things with CITES is that different branches in various countries interpret policy differently. So while the USA may have the Lacey act and say no to imports of certain species, some countries have no issue with plants that have been grown in flask and imported from a...

    Paph. rungsuriyanum primary crosses

I can tell you what has been made and we have plants of already or on the way in flask. rungsuriyanum x maudiae rungsuriyanum x leucochilum rungsuriyanum x concolor rungsuriyanum x ciliolare I have also legally imported rungsuriyanum in flask several times in the last couple of years and we...

    paphiopedilum canhii seedling

I have legal plants, so I will work on flasking it anyway. one plant is now in spike and hopefully soon others. I t is important to flask it to save the species given it is nearly extinct in the wild. Plant smugglers wont stop. keeping it rare in cultivation only helps them by creating a black...
