Popow sells other people's plants as his own?

I want to get something off my chest but I don't know what category it belongs in. I hope it's okay but I'm kind of disappointed by my observation. I recently bought a Paph. sanderianum from 'Großräschener Orchideen', this one...

    Help for Paph. sangii

I never use fungicides in my culture, I have never had any need for them. Have only used the fungicide on the rockwool as it was generally recommended to me for first-use preparation. The plant stands in a glass vase with a lid that is open a crack. In my experience fungal diseases and insect...

    Help for Paph. sangii

Update 2024-04-20 (9th day) Update 2024-04-23 (13th day) I now water with Peters 20-20-20+Ca+Mg, pH of 5.8 and EC of 270 µS (to preserve the roots). Added urea as supplement. Also foliar spray once a week. The micronutrients are reduced due to underdosing the fertilizer to reach only 270...

    Repotting every year?

I find these two articles interesting in this regard as they show the necessity of repotting, depending on how much and how often you fertilize and the quality of the water used: 1. https://www.paphs.de/en/culture/theory-and-practice-part-1 2...

    Paphiopedilum canhii

Don't want to hijack your thread but I find it interesting how much the flowers can differ. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that there are many different wild plants in circulation and therefore the diversity is much greater than with decades of selfing genetically similar plants in vitro.

Brown Spots on Paph. Roth leaves! Please help!

As BrucherT wrote about blech solution: I also soak the pot (without plant/substrate) in a ~10-20% solution of sodium hypochlorite. In Germany the product is called "Danklorix" (from the supermarket) for 15 minutes. It is household bleach without any other additives (no fragrances). Incidentally...

Brown spot on stem of Phrag Kovachii

I've been looking for a long time now but I don't see any brown spots...🤔 The roots can't be that great because I can see a "drying out" on the leaves on the trunk. Other than that I don't notice anything else.

    Paphiopedilum stonei

...and I just thought: "he can't do sanderianum but stonei, congratu... oh". Should always read the small print first. 😁 Just kidding. Looks awesome! Thx. I have two small young plants which will take some time.

It also looks like it could be the same fungus than this: https://www.slippertalk.com/threads/round-fungus-spots-attacking-my-paphs-if-some-of-you-have-insights-on-a-durable-solution.56807/

Brown Spots on Paph. Roth leaves! Please help!

I have already experienced that pathogens can enter the plant through the roots. In this case I strongly assume that the substrate is contaminated with something because it occurred directly after repotting. You urgently need other rescue measures for the already damaged and infected tissue but...

    Help for Paph. sangii

Thank you. I have now prepared new rockwool and soaked it in 10-52-10, adjusted the pH to 5.7 - I have read that it likes it more acidic? I also added Previcur (fungicide) to the soaking water. Apart from that, there are slightly brownish spots on the leaves, some of which look damp (Erwinia?)...

    Help for Paph. sangii

Hello, this Paph. sangii has been brought to me by a friend. It has hardly any roots left, just enough to survive. It is producing two new shoots. It is currently in rockwool and shaded (2000 Lux) at 75%-80% rH with 23°C / 73°F. Watering every two days with Peters 10-52-10 (0.5g/L -> 410 µS...

Watering or soaking - whats best?

"Only" 150 adult plants... 🙈 Lifting 150 times a plant pot over the sinkand letting the water run through is not a small amount of work, esp. for each pot 1 minute is 150 minutes. 😁 I also think that soaking is more time-saving if you can't go over an entire palette with a large shower head...

Round fungus spots attacking my Paphs. If some of you have insights on a durable solution.

Instinctively it looks to me as if it comes from the water. The spots look dry!? Droplets stand on the leaves. Perhaps the water is not 'clean' enough? You could try disinfecting the water first. It might also help to water the plants for a while directly on the substrate and not from above. If...
