Paph. Mem. Eleanor Ohlund 'Kate's'

Another sequential, and again hoping for something nice, unique, and different in sequentials, there's this one: victoria-mariae x primulinum. Paph. victoria-mariae is unique among sequentials in having "smooth" color on the pouch - chamberlainianum and primulinum v. purpurascens and liemieanum have "spotting" of color. In addition, the color is more rose, more saturated, and more glowing. In addition again, the foliage of victoria-mariae is nicely tesselated, making for an altogether more interesting type of pot plant. Victoria-mariae has only been crossed to other sequentials as a primary (only x liemieanum, x glaucophyllum, and x primulinum)...as of this weekend this plant will be crossed with some better complex sequentials as well as with dark forms of chamberlainianum to get hopefully larger, darker flowers with the same rosy glow. Unfortunately this grex shows all too well the effects of hybrid vigor: although both species are fairly small, this plant is very large, over 2 ft from tip to tip of the leaves. But with such pretty leaves, and such rosy flowers, I like it!! (for those interested, NS 9.5 cm, PW 2.0 cm!!)
