    Cypripedium arietinum V

Thanks, everyone. This original is available, and I am happy to split up payments for patrons so it's both more affordable for them and I'm still adequately compensated for my efforts, but prints on a wide variety of surfaces are available through Pixels.com...

    Cypripedium arietinum V

It's been quite some time since I shared any of my mixed media paintings here. I'm largely a landscape painter these days, but I still adore orchids, grow them, "hunt" them and make work inspired by them occasionally. This piece is my fifth inspired by my in situ observations of Cypripedium...

    Anguloa dubia

I won this division in the 2014 Slippertalk Forum Fundraiser and it's blooming for me again this spring:

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

A belated thanks for the very helpful replies. Tonyw, I will likely shoot you a PM after I do a bit more homework. I'm especially glad to know the timing will be good for the plants.

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

I've turned my attention to Gargano National Park in Italy for an orchid hunting trip instead. Any English speakers out there who have lodging and restaurants they'd like to recommend to make the experience less terrifying?

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

Seeing the huge stands of yellow is a cheerful experience in its own right and I've never visited late enough to catch the C. reginae which I know I'd love. Word has it they have a rose-like fragrance. All of these guys have scents. We're not going this year because of the conference in...

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

Yeah, that was my thought, tonyw, but I'm trying to make sure--thanks for the feedback. I'm used to showing up to Tobermory a little early (before the official orchid festival) which is why I'm reliably able to catch Calypso bulbosa and Cypripedium arietinum in bloom; as a result, I'm often too...

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

I'm very interested, polyantha. If you'd be willing to PM me details I'd really appreciate it. Posting specifics publicly isn't in the plants' best interests.

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

Only in the far north. The photo (taken in Canada) was shared as a testament of my willingness to travel to far away places to see orchids in situ hoping it might make the locals take me seriously. We're going to Venice in April and I'm trying to decide if I want to follow it up with time in...

    Wutach Gorge in Germany

Has anyone here been to the Wutach Gorge during the second half of April? I can see that the bus that moves hikers from one spot to another doesn't begin running till the very end of said month which may be my clue. That said, if any orchids at all were going to be in bloom before that, I'd...

    new paph and masdevallia-inspired paintings

If that's what you see, then that's what it is! ... The inspiration was actually a very similar hybrid, but I chose to make the flower a bit more green in the painting (I can do that because I'm not a botanical illustrator).

    new paph and masdevallia-inspired paintings

I appreciate the kind words. I make very little floral work these days, so, if this is your thing, let me know. Thanks again for looking.

    new paph and masdevallia-inspired paintings

I have two, new orchid-inspired pieces available. If you're interested in one of them, please send me a PM or write me at [email protected] Thanks for looking! Robin Street-Morris Masdevallia Orchid. 2013. Watercolor and pastel on 300lb hot press paper. 11" x 16" (28 x 41cm)...

    recent landscapes

I realize this is an orchid forum so these won't be to everyone's taste, but they're a big part of what I do. Please let me know if one of them is something you'd enjoy owning and we'll go from there. Thanks for your interest! Ocean of Glass with Seabirds. Watercolor and pastel on 300lb...

    Dendrophylax lindenii

A great blooming of one of my favorites. It's pollinated by Cocytius antaeus.

    Epi. magnoliae

This is the best I can do, Ozpaph. The blossoms are very small and I don't own a macro lens for my body yet.

    Restrepia striata (brachypus)

Thanks--I love this little plant. Yes, there are lots of people. At the end of the day, though, you're basically on vacation 365 days a year any hour you're not working and the many neighborhood canyons, nearby mountains and quite a few of the beaches are very quiet.
