Well, the Shun-fa saga comes to a sad close. The bud blasted. I'm guessing I didn't keep it watered well enough. This is as far as it got, which made me extra sad because this is what I wanted the Liberty Taiwan x Norito Hasegawa to look more like. Oh well, maybe next year!

I was hoping for some more red bits on the petals, but I agree with you on the shape. One of the sibling bloom references on the listing had more elongated petals I was hoping not to get. The second reference was more colorful and more what I was going for, but what I ended up with is still...

Well it looks like the Liberty Taiwan x Norito Hasegawa will be blooming first! I thought this would take much longer The Shun-fa continues plodding along

Shhhh! Don't give it ideas! But I knew this was a possibility, I just hadn't expected to have to deal with it so soon. I guess I'll figure out where else in my room I can move it to when it gets too tall, since I really don't want to let it grow up through the wire shelf

The Shun-fa bud progress is on the right, going quite slowly. The left side is my liberty Taiwan x Norito Hasegawa, getting real tall! I'm running out of space for it on that shelf, I wonder how much taller it will get

Yes, single one this time due to extra neglect. It's bloomed two in the past though.

Another bloom from this plant. This is my hardiest cattleya. It takes all of my neglect and is also grown indoors full time, so I'm not really giving it it's best life, but it hasn't failed to bloom for me yet. I bet if I was a better caretaker, the bloom show would be even more spectacular...

Pouch is just a tad crooked, but that's probably not a big deal for a first bloom And indoor lighting

Thanks! I have a nice handful of pretty vigorous paphs that are doing really good for me, but some others are a bit lacking so they don't ALL love me. I'm just pleased to see that I can keep these alive so far, and mostly that I remember to water them enough.
