nice flowers. when i saw the clonal name/title, my brain kept wanting to see 'pak choi' for some reason

Haha.. I hope so too.. :p I chose the name 'Choy Pau' because of the green staminodes. Over here, dumplings are marked according to the different fillings by a small coloured dot on top of the dumpling. For vegetable dumplings, they have green dots on top.
 
In my opinion, the white/cream coloured pouch trait in leucochilum is variable with various degrees of spotting and this becomes especially obvious when the breeders select for improved colour in the petals. I presume the genes for pouch colour and petal colour may not be that independent of one another. We all know that line-breeding for other colour traits will produce characteristics not found in wild plants (say phalaenopsis bellina 'blue'), but that does not mean it is not the same species.
