My phrag's first bud turned brown and fallen off. The subsequent bud has no movement and the spike has turned brown. Is there still hope for the.remaining buds to return to life?

If the spike has turned brown, probably not.

Discerning why that has happened will be interesting.

Unfortunately the top of the spike looks hopeless. This is a sequential bloomer. Where should I cut the spike to ensure this fan can produce new blooms? Thank you.

Cut the spike as close to the base of the fan as possible.
Unfortunately the fan will not grow another spike. that’s it for this one.
You’ll have to grow a new growth!

It has new growth already. Are you agreeing that it is done?

The old growth has finished blooming. Phrags only ever produce a single spike, like paphs. The new growth will bloom when mature.
How does one know if the neighboring growth is older or the newest one? Thanks!
