Here's a couple of Soph acuensis on the left and a cross between acuensis and wittigiana on the right. It's amazing how much these flowers expand after opening. (I know they're supposed to be Cattleyas, but I'm waiting for a second opinion.)

Isn't that a Laelia, I mean a Cattleya? I'm digging the wittigiana cross especially. Any easier to grow than the pure species? I agree, Sophronitis rule!

Yes, I've always grow the wittigiana in warm conditions, so the hybrid is warmth tolerant. I'm growing a division mounted on tree fern under warm conditions. It's not as happy and it hasn't flowered yet, but it's growing fine.
