black diamond is val x mm..acquired two years ago and place in 6 inch compot growing in coconut husk/little oyster shell and styrofoam (bottom half)..the mix was well aerated and roots were grew evenly about the mix. the mix was broken down at repotting today, which i think these seedlings love (as long as its well aerated).i mixed in the old CHC with the new in these (lower third of pots styrofoam and mix has some Hydroton pellets and a little oyster shell) ..22 seedlings individually potted in 2.25 x 3.25 (deep) pots ranging from 2 inch LS to 5 inch LS...going to grow these for AQ (long term project, very long)

I have heard that Black Diamond is actually wild collected not a Val x MM.

This should be a great cross with Atticus to improve the Black Diamond form. There is also a cross with Fox Valley. When I talked with Tom Kalina he was very excited about that cross after Sam got the Black Diamond pollen.
