I got a division from a HOS member, Father Ted back in 2017. This is the first repotting. I had it in the May show and F. Ted expressed interest in a division back. He had lost his in our freeze.

The plant was solid in its clay pot so I had to use a hacksaw blade to skirt the entire inside surface of the pot.

The contents of the pot. I knew I had clay balls but sure what else

The only way I saw to divide was to go back to my trusty hacksaw blade

Some root loss was expected but plenty left

Put the smaller back into the original clay pot and will try a 9 inch sq basket for my piece. Then put them both back up with the cattleyas20220703_085757.jpg

Can you believe it? I use to rot this species away to nothing prior to this clone. This species in a bark mix/plastic pot ghosted me every freak'in time. Not until I ran across a Thai grower on the web demonstration a repot of this species did I figured it out. He was using clay pots, clay balls and what looked like native soil as his mix. I could mimic that.
