Lovely plant.
One of the things that makes makes phrags so fascinating, and sometimes frustrating, is the relative instability of their flowers. I have observed this many times, but not enough to know whether it is due to some sort of change in conditions, or just the nature of its being.
Some times the changes are for the better; some times that “perfect” flower refuses to reemerge. Funny.

I think both versions beautiful. I agree with Kate that the surprises keep me fascinated and observant all the
time. Somehow I don't find it frustrating, but intriguing.
