Past week I had the oportunity to visit HP Norton and Terry Root (will post pics when I learn the process) and sure it was my question to ask about 4n PKs and the hybrids. For PK the answer was NOT YET, but trying...for the hybs everybody is doing the primary and very few complex hybs (like J Fishers), but just using 2n pollen and pod plants.
Terry mentioned that when they will obtain a good 2n hyb, then it is time to do the 4n treatment with colchicine or other chemicals.
I believe it will take some more years, after the primary Hybs presented already. Now HP and Glen can use their own material to produce the next generation containing PK gene pool. These will bloom in three more years.
Alfredo Manrique has done over 25 hybridis, most of them primary hybrids. What we have observed is that crosses with P richteri and parceae are growing very fast. He will bloom those in 1 1/2 years.
