The bloom was missing the staminode for some reason, but the color was extremely good due to the lower temperatures this winter.

That colour is amazing! Shame about the staminode. That yellow on red though, so nice!
 
Sorry for not getting back with you all sooner! My computer died and I have yet to receive my next one that I ordered, so I haven't been able to check back very frequently.

Nice. What is the size of the flower and the plant?

The plant is very large; I have it in a 10" pot. As for the bloom, I don't particularly remember how large it was, but I'm thinking it was around the 9cm mark. It wasn't the largest since it was the last bloom on the spike.

Must have been frozen solid for color that nice to develop! Looks great.

This one would have developed with day temperatures around 62 and night temps around 50, so I really believe it's the key to getting nicely colored besseae hybrids.

can you post a close-up? :eek:

Of which part? The bloom is long gone, but if there's a specific part you want, I can see if I can crop a photo.
