I really love the look of this species compared to the standard complex hybrid Phal. So much more interesting shapes, colors, and patterns than the average plain why phal hybrid.
When I was growing up, my grandmother in Sibu had a few of these amabilis plants that she grew to huge specimens, with multiple spikes and tons of flowers. Such a nostalgic sight for me. Thanks for sharing.
I like your flowers and plant and I like this species in general.....because it was one of the first if not the first living orchid I saw in a German orchid nursery many years ago. About 12 years ago therefore I bought a young plant of Phal. amabilis var. vinicolor.......unfortunately an mislabeled plant, either Phal. aphrodite or a hybrid in my eyes.
Beautiful species Phal. I grow species Phals and love them dearly for the early
spring color and cheer. I have schilleriana and stuartiana blooming now and
philippenensis spiking.
