This is the newest spike, blooming with 5 flowers. This inflorescence is over 30 cm and the flowers are at least 5.5 cm. The previous spikes from the last two years are starting to show signs of bud formation. This will bloom on and off all spring and summer - I believe I still had a round of flowers on it in October last year, although it does seem a little early this year.

I have not noticed a scent, although that does not mean that they don't produce one. As for the blooming, they open around the stem on a pendant inflorescence - typically, three flowers, sometimes four - this is my first time with five flowers open on the same spike. They only last for a couple of weeks, but after the flowers fall the spike continues to grow and about a month later another set of flowers it produced. It is a large plant, not as big as gigantea, but it has big, thick, large roundish leaves.
