The laws in Thailand are good and there are plenty of national parks, but since people do what they want, often in collaboration with the police and local authorities, orchid theft, logging, land encroachment, fire and hunting is ongoing in the so called national parks. A group of us have realized the orchids are not protected in the national parks, and so we create Orchid Arks:

As dog powder and golf are considered more important than wild orchids, we have a pathetic budget and the Orchid Ark is run by volunteers, but we do what we can. Salvation picking is illegal but we try to change that.
The forests of Laos and Burma are doomed, the battle is lost, but there is a tiny chance some wild orchids will survive in Thailand.
