A few pics of the paphs and phrags that The Australian Paphiopedilum Society is sending to display at the AOC conference in Perth. Spent part of the morning helping pack them. 2 boxes to go.

Well done Brett, Margret and Co!

I think Margaret Teirney gets more credit here than me  I just passed the cotton wool, and stuck flowers in water phails.

As part of the TAPS committee I want to say thanks to everyone who gave blooms for the display.

I'd be most concerned about unpacking -- all that cotton, and will cotton fibers cling to the blooms and be hard to remove?

looks as if I had left all my blooming paphs outside 2 years ago in out snowy winter.

MArgaret was using wadding, not normal cottonwool. It seems lighter and less thready. So I pressume it comes of easier. She has used this before and I guess it works

What an incredibly hard job! I've never packed flowers yet, but I'm about to try it myself for the first time. Eeek.

Hi Chris

Its not hard, just time consuming. Margaret puts each flower into a florists tube of water, then that tube is put through a cut in the sheeting, and taped to the box. Then the bloom is nestled in a bed of wadding, and some wadding is placed on top of the flower to protect the pouch. Once all are in place, more wadding covers the blooms and the sheeting is put over the top and the box sealed.

The pictures look quite strange to me - the coffin of Snow White and the seven Paphs comes to my mind ... :poke:
