Paphiopedilum philippinense 'Super Twister' x 'Alford' AM/AOS from Orchid Inn. It says 'x sib', but he frequently uses sibling-crossing incorrectly, so it could be an outcross. Petal length 16cm. photos from May 30, 2020
And you are right about the 'x sib' consideration, when it comes to Sam...he seems to tend to use it when he crosses a species to itself, be the clones siblings or not? Or am I wrong here?
Very nice. I like “Alfords”! I have the same cross from Sam, about 2 years old. Just got rot! It has great roots and 4” start and another bud starting. I removed the outer leaves on at a time until getting the the center of the plant and it was rotted. Removed all tissue sprayed with Physan and Dragons Blood. Currently I have a healthy looking 4” plant with great roots. Maybe I caught it before it spread! Duck
Yes, it is probably the case, Guidal. I explained Sam the difference between sibling cross and outcross between conspecifics at one point.
Duck, I hope yours will recover!
