P. mastersianum is a real beauty - the contrast between the maroon petals an pouch and the different greens - from dark to light- of the dorsal - just stunning.
And the photo is great as always.

neat! have you bloomed it before? how long does the bloom last? i've heard three+ months but i have a hard time believing that....

Three months easily, some quite a bit longer. Flower longevity, a lacquered finish and strong, long stems are some of the very desirable qualities this species brings to hybrids. The rarer redder clones are very desirable, because they can "muddy" the red in some of the F1.
