Paphiopedilum insigne - or exul?

I've bought this as being insigne.
Even though that spiecies is variable, I think it looks more like exul.
Usually the seller has her things right, but we can all make a mistake :)
So what do you think?

Well, I guess the insigne is correct, judging by the leaves, My other insigne looks just like that, and my exul does not have the purple spotting.

Looking at the article written by Harold Koopowitz, this has the combination of the two, dark bold spots from exul, pouch and petals from insigne. Exul is supposedly warm growing,, this might help you. But this is a very variable species so that exul was described as a variety of insigne.

I would clearly vote for insigne!

My exul had, when flowering, an unspotted synsepal with a uniformly, ligth green colouring - this is by the way also how the plant is described by Braem et al. ;)

I have had several Paph insigne of different provenance. One is exactly like this. I managed to get it and an exul to bloom side by side. Then the differences are obvious, but I can see how confusion would arise.

This is clearly insigne.
