In looking for its parentage I found several sources that listed it as a primary hybrid. When did Paph. Fanaticum become a species? Lovely none the less, and blooming at the same time as its look-alike, Magic Lantern.

There used to be a Carolyn Butcher as a member of The Michigan Orchid Society about 45 years ago. Don't know if she's the same Carolyn Butcher that this is named after.

I think fanaticum (with the lowercase F) is a naturally occurring primary hybrid and some might consider this as a species.
I don't think it is a species.
