I buy these plant as bare root in December 2020. The tag said “pygmy form” (I thought it was only for barbatum var. nigritium 'pygmy') but I think is the normal type. But I don’t complain. Now is blooming with these exquisite blooms 4 inches from tip to tip. I find the back flower very well proportionated and with such a beautiful harmony between its parts. I grow it on a windowsill, so the flowers look for the outdoors light. I suppose if I grew it in a greenhouse they would be more upright. Hope you enjoy it.

Mario, lovely flowers and the plant seems to be very well grown. Congrats to achieve such a result, growing a bare root plant to flower, on the window-sill within 1+ years. 👍 I'm not sure but 'pygmy form' seems an invention of the seller or breeder.

Great color! Selective breeding has come a long way with this species. Forget the pygmy part. Like Rudolf says, a ploy to sell.

Well, maybe the seller just wasn't taxonomically minded, and I guess, he might have intended: P. callosum var. sublaeve (syn. var. thailandense). Your lovely flowers certainly look as of that variety, Mario. And I wholeheartedly agree, that that backmost flower is neigh perfect! ;)

Thank you! Yes, I like how the plant improves in such a fast time. Easy to grow and strong. It don't need to have a particular characteristic like "pygmy", I think it is wonderful.

Ok, I will read more about var. sublaeve. Thank you for your kind lines, I appreciate it!
