Will the real P.bellatulum stand up!!

Phil Cribb claims that P.conco-bellatulum (wenshensae) are all P. bellatulums.
Just geographical variants.
I think I agree looking at a lot of each

Thanks Heather, i had a hard time trying to post the image .... not gd with this stuff.....

But frankly, this hill (wenshan) as i was told have 3 paph overlapping, and i won't be surprise one fine day there will be a 'new' natural hybrid being discover....

concolour have smaller dot, and lots of it
bellatulum have big dots over white background.
wenshensae background colour is cream to light yellow.

i am true believer that wenshenase is a species in its own right.

Maybe i should post the image of these three paph sideby side the next time.....

Actually, the correct spelling is wenshanense, if you are taking notes.

In Braem and Chiron's Paphiopedilum (p. 22) they state that they tried to clarify the RHS's position on P. wenshanense and were told that the name applies to the F1 generation of bellatulum x concolor, and subsequent generations should be called P. Conco-bellatulum. They interpret this as meaning that P. wenshanense x P. wenshanense = P. Conco-bellatulum!

This seems to imply that there would never be any properly labeled line-bred wenshanense.

Braem and Chiron also note that Paph Conco-bellatulum plants have been awarded as P. concolor, so individual plants can probably be passed off as either species.

At least we can agree that they are Brachys...Or CAN we?

Regards,
Rick
