How dark are the spots inside the pouch?
Do you have any more pictures of it, including the plant itself?
Also, is it about the same size a nevium?

Thanks,

Craig

That's a neat flower.
I saw a side by side pic of this flower with a niveum and it looked allot smaller than the niveum.

It almost looks like an Asian version of Mexipedium

Hi Craig,

The color of the spots inside the pouch is maroon red. The shade of the color depends on each clone. See the picture. The size of the plant is much, much smaller than P. nevium. I would say about 3 inches LS, flowering size. I'll try to get a picture of P. thaianum side by side P. nevium.

The spots inside the pouch are very pronounced.
The pouch must be pretty thick on this clone as they
don't show through the pouch much at all.
Very nice.

Nice comparison shot.
Is the difference that big, or is the
thaianum just further from the camera?

WOW!

Nope, they are actually only about two inches apart!

Hello Truemadman,

It seems to me your P. niveum has got an extraordinary big flower, hasn't it?
So far I don't grow P. thaianum but I saw it in flower in a orchid nursery about three weeks ago (Don't know why I didn't purchase it?).
I kept in my memory the flower of P. thaianum compared to a common P. niveum is smaller no doubt - but just a bit not in the way your photo shows.
P. niveum seems in your photo more than twice as big as P. taianum - that's unusual and (I think) gives a wrong impression.

Best regards from Germany, GuRu
