Paph spicerianum

Here is my new spicerianum I got in low bud. This is it's first bloom. I love the color, but so far the dorsal is not standing up very tall.

I like the maroon brushing and the dark pouch. The petals are also relatively flat. Perhaps the dorsal will improve on the next bloom.

Spicers dorsals don't really stand up to a large degree to start with. You should see reflexing of the sides allowing the dorsal to"hood over" the pouch opening. Your PIC looks great to me.

Thanks, good to know. It maybe as open as it's going to get. I still haven't gotten a new camera and am using my cell phone. I am very pleased with how well it turned out.
