Paph. Marble Marie x Yellow Leopard

The cross is Paph. Marble Marie 'Fusion' x Paph. Yellow Leopard '#3' and came from Hilo Orchid Farm. The first bloom, on a single growth, was a massive 14.5cm NS flower with a saturated brilliant red. The plant has been incredibly vigorous and put out 3 growths this year, one of which is currently in bloom, and one in low sheath. I have to say I'm quite disappointed with this flowering. The color is washed out, the flower is tiny, the petals are narrow, and the form is all-around a mess - I'll keep it around one more year, since I know it can be spectacular but if it doesn't improve next year it may find it's way into the compost bin...

It’s not, but it’s still going to have to do better than this to justify space it occupies!
