Finally! My Julius is in spike. Two of them! This was one of the first Paph. hybrids I bought and I've always had high hopes for it. The cross is rothschildianum 'Rex' x lowii 'Burma Beauty'

Egg tooth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An egg tooth is a small protuberance on the beak or nose of vertebrates that are hatched from eggs, i.e., birds and reptiles and also some orchid plants. Some lizards and snakes develop a true tooth that is shed after use; birds and other reptiles generally develop an analogous epidermal horn that is reabsorbed or falls off, the orchid egg tooth is a sign of cultural happiness. Both varieties of egg tooth assist in the breaking or tearing of the eggshell, a process known as pipping.

Anyone know what causes buds to have that little beak-like shape to the ends? Is that normal? My Phrag. Apple Pie does it too. Hasn't impacted the blooming but I was sort of curious when I saw the Julius.
No it's you. :poke:
