Paph (Impulse x leucochilum) '#7'

This cross seems to produce consistently decent flowers. The main variable is the color. I wish I had made it, because then I would have the parents to remake it. I plan to try a similar cross this winter.

For those who did not see some of the other flowers from this cross, here are a few.

#7 is still a little cupped, but might open more with time. It does have a cleaner look to it. All these are first blooms and all have seemed prone to color breaks. Hopefully that problem will go away as the plants get bigger.

have you considered doing a selfing, or a sib cross to stabilize a desirable trait? Or would you get too much variability still?

What's interesting is that it has the smallest leaf span, also. One more with that small size and very dark coloring on the undersides of the leaves is in very low bud.

#7 is in my opinion the best one so far. Apart from the color break, it seems to be better balanced.
