Paph. helenae conundrum...

Anyone remember the helenae on ebay that I won? A couple of potential
bidders thought it was a hybrid because of the photo posted with the auction. The little cutie should be open by tomorrow and so far it has
a very dark pink pouch at least. Can't tell much about the dorsal today...
it appears to be yellow. I don't think it's going to look anything like the
auction photo...much better in fact.

I'm going to try to take a photo with my Galaxy phone camera and the
bloom is tiny! So don't make fun of my attempt to take a pic. Well, NYEric
can make fun of me. The Samsung phone doesn't do very well close up
on small flowers. I'm soooo excited and waiting for the bud to develop has
been maddening.

Photos on the way to South Africa. Just opened today, but it is beautiful
in my opinion and definitely helenae. Well, I'm not that well versed in
helenae crosses, so I'm depending on all of you to help identify the plant.
I'm thrilled!!!! Worth every penny I paid to mijo and then some. Thank
you Mike, wherever you are.

No, entirely unnecessary. I just like the little "button" on the staminode.
I just figured out why so many of my pics are blurred. I have Restore eye
implants and they're very good for correcting some vision problems, but
not particularly good for close-up stuff without reading glasses. Gonna have
to work on that!

you gotten a lot of new growth on the Iwan. Appleblossom this summer?

Yes, I have new growth on the Iwan. I'm hoping there will be some blossoms this fall (otherwise I'll wait until the spring).

Of course, you're in a different part of the country so my experience may not apply, but mine blooms in late spring just after the species Phals. are
winding down.
