From Orchids Ltd last June in flower. “A maudiae crossed with a brachypetalum makes for an interesting look of white, pinks and a hint of green with mottled foliage.” The first bloom opened 3/19/20. The second 4/30. This one really steals my heart for some reason. 3” pot, plant’s second bloom.

Ooh, I really like this one.
Don
Thanks everyone, for all the nice comments. I was hoping the first bud was going to open for the Richmond show but no where close (3/19/20). At first it looked like the second bud was going to crash into the first. I tried to separate them a bit and brought the plant upstairs to a windowsill to enjoy. Waited patiently for the second to open, as I said, almost 6 wks later. Funny, the second bud twisted itself completely up, down and around to the side. I had it facing the window (SE), so it wasn’t turning to the light. It was just a bit strange. Thrilled for two flowers on one spike. It didn’t do that last time.

That really is a great outcome. The shape can often be badly deformed on such a cross.
Niveum tends to whiten the colors in hybrids, turning dark colors to pink shade.
Bellatulum often intensify the colors.
